Europe´s largest, and the world´s top-most dam is situated at the end of the valley.
On the dam, a new world opens up. It varies across the seasons. It is way above the tree border and  both nature and climate are rough and fascinating.

The view from here is magnificent, with a view to glaciers, barren peaks, water falls, ravines etc. If it is possible to go there at various times of the year, one gets a fair insight of how the water level of the lake changes during the year (more than 120 meters).

Val d'Herens is an auxiliary valley to the canton main valley, the Vallais valley. This valley is a major wineproducing area concentrated around the Rhône river.
